St. James' is looking ahead to the Annual Parish Meeting after the 10:15 am service, Sunday, February 2. Think of it as a parish town hall gathering where, after celebrating Holy Communion and fellowship, we’ll conduct the business of the church. We will thank out-going Vestry members, elect new Vestry members, elect Convention delegates, and pass a budget, among other things.
The elected positions are very important. They oversee the day-to-day concerns of the parish, from parishioners’ well-being to the health of our various ministries to the upkeep of the physical plant. The church relies upon their service and they bring experience and insight from varied backgrounds.
This year we will elect five people to Vestry. The nominees are: Harry Allen, Joy Fridey, Marianne Grant, Jan Powers, and Christopher Wiedey. The Diocesan Convention delegate nominees are: John Cate, Caitlyn Ference-Saunders, Lucy Jones, Edward Martinez, and alternate Edmond Yee. This year’s delegates will have the especially significant role of voting on behalf of St. James’ for the next bishop of LA.
I want to offer gratitude to both the out-going folks and those who are in-coming. Your service to Christ and the church is appreciated. Guided by the Holy Spirit, your gifts and talents help build the church in which we worship…and for generations to come!
Faithfully,
Fr. Greg+
